Overview

The CDN Platform Engineer will design, implement, optimize, and support enterprise CDN platforms for large-scale, customer-facing applications. The role focuses on secure, highly available content delivery, caching, traffic routing, edge security, automation, and Multi-CDN transformation.

Hybrid: Remote candidates considered; 1 day per week onsite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and serve as SME for enterprise CDN technologies, partnering with application, network, and security teams.
  • Build self-service CDN capabilities through an internal developer portal.
  • Lead global CDN migrations and enforce enterprise standards.
  • Drive modernization from legacy vendor-managed CDN environments to an automated Multi-CDN ecosystem.
  • Lead RCA for critical production incidents and participate in on-call rotations.
  • Develop automation and remediation scripts to improve reliability.
  • Define and monitor CDN SLOs/SLAs, alerts, and proactive remediation.
  • Evaluate emerging CDN technologies and performance optimization techniques.
  • Mentor engineers and develop technical documentation, playbooks, and training materials.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years managing enterprise CDN platforms such as Akamai, Cloudflare, Fastly, or Google Cloud CDN.
  • Strong knowledge of DNS, GTM, CNAME, HTTP/2, HTTP/3, TLS/SSL, caching, and edge computing.
  • Hands-on experience with Akamai, Cloudflare, Google Media CDN, Google Cloud Platform Cloud CDN, and Fastly.
  • Strong Terraform and Ansible experience for CDN provisioning, origin mappings, WAF, and Bot Management automation.
  • Experience building API-driven self-service solutions and Backstage plugins.
  • Front-end development with React and backend development using Python (FastAPI/Flask) or Java.
  • Experience with GitOps, Tekton, Pipeline-as-Code, and GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with Apigee, OpenAPI, and 42Crunch security scanning.
  • Experience with Splunk, Dynatrace, and Grafana for telemetry and monitoring.
  • SaaS experience.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Google Cloud Platform experience with Cloud Run, Transcoder API, and GKE/OpenShift.
  • Experience with CDN integration for Adobe Experience Manager (AEM/AEMaaCS).
  • Content management experience.
