About Our Client
Our client is a dynamic, growth-oriented energy company operating across a large portfolio of assets in North Texas, with a significant footprint spanning approximately 1,400 well sites and regional offices. A leader in domestic energy production, the company serves a broad base of operational and corporate users — roughly 400–500 full-time employees plus contractor personnel totaling around 600 users. With a forward-thinking IT strategy that is fully cloud-based on the IT side, the company is committed to leveraging modern infrastructure to support safe, efficient, and scalable operations. The culture is fast-paced and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on problem-solving, continuous improvement, and getting things done right.

Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior System Administrator to join our client''s lean, high-performing IT team. In this role, you will be a primary owner of cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure environments, supporting the technology backbone that keeps a large-scale energy operation running smoothly. Day-to-day, you can expect a mix of proactive infrastructure management, endpoint standardization, and reactive troubleshooting — all in a high-volume environment where priorities shift and your ability to adapt quickly is essential.

You will work closely with a peer System Administrator, help desk staff, and network engineers, reporting directly to the IT Director. Beyond your core technical responsibilities, this role calls for a collaborative team player who is willing to roll up their sleeves and support the broader IT organization as needed. If you thrive in environments where no two days look the same and you take pride in solving complex problems efficiently, this opportunity is for you.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot servers in AWS (primary) and Azure cloud environments with a 100% cloud-focused approach on the IT side
  • Support and administer Microsoft technologies including Microsoft Intune, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and related tools
  • Standardize, build, and deploy laptops and endpoints following best practice configuration and deployment workflows
  • Create and maintain standard AWS workstations with preloaded applications for consistent user environments
  • Assist with server-side infrastructure supporting OT/IoT applications (e.g., operational technology platforms), without responsibility for application-level support
  • Perform root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and performance optimization across the environment
  • Manage a high volume of concurrent requests and tasks, making sound decisions on-the-fly with minimal supervision
  • Collaborate with help desk staff and network engineers to ensure seamless IT operations across all locations
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide production support as needed
  • Evaluate and implement new tools, technologies, and processes that improve team efficiency and infrastructure reliability

Required Experience & Skills
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in system administration
  • Strong working knowledge of AWS cloud environments (primary) and Azure
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Intune, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Windows server administration
  • Demonstrated ability to build, configure, and standardize endpoints and laptops efficiently
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills — able to resolve complex issues in hours, not days
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-demand environment
  • Self-starter mentality with a "get it done" attitude and willingness to support the team beyond defined role boundaries
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a collaborative, cross-functional IT team

Nice-to-Haves
  • Familiarity with hybrid IT/OT environments or experience supporting industrial or operational technology infrastructure
  • Experience in the oil & gas, energy, or industrial sector (helpful but not required — candidates from any industry are encouraged to apply)
  • Exposure to large-scale endpoint deployments across distributed or remote site locations
  • Experience working within lean IT teams where versatility and cross-functional contribution are valued

Education
AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Microsoft certifications) are a plus and may substitute for or complement formal education.

Pay & Benefits Summary
Compensation and benefits details will be provided during the interview process. Our client offers a competitive package commensurate with experience for the right candidate.
