The Role

HII Operations and Advanced Technology group is hiring a Manager in the Arlington, VA office to shape enterprise priorities and lead high-impact strategy and operational improvement efforts across HII. Specific job duties include:
  • Partner with business unit leadership to diagnose complex strategic and operational issues, develop actionable recommendations, and support program execution
  • Lead high-priority initiatives including operational transformations, manufacturing scale-up, and growth strategy development within HII's business units
  • Support the unmanned and autonomous systems portfolios on topics such as operating model design, execution improvement, capability development, and strategic prioritization
  • Design and implement HII's standard production system by partnering with operations leaders at the program, site, and enterprise levels
  • Build executive-ready analyses, recommendations, and presentations to support C-suite and board-level decision making and alignment
  • Support the Enterprise Advanced Technology roadmap, including robotics, automation, additive manufacturing, AI, and other manufacturing technologies
  • Partner with HII's divisions to lead enterprise-wide advanced technology and Industry 4.0 transformation initiatives

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; OR

Master's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience

Nice to Have

  • Prior consulting or investment banking experience
  • Manufacturing and/or logistics experience
  • Familiarity with high-complexity / defense manufacturing or shipbuilding is a plus
  • Capable of building alignment, trust, and momentum across large groups of people, from skilled craftspeople to executive leadership
  • Familiarity with unmanned systems, autonomous technologies, or operational transformation is a plus
  • Comfort creating structure from ambiguity, applying first principles problem-solving, and moving quickly with imperfect data
  • Exceptional communication skills
