Job Description
We are seeking a Mechanical Technician III to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in prototype assembly, mechanical and electrical testing, and calibration of consumer electronic devices and a proven ability to execute SOP-driven builds, troubleshoot issues with design engineering, and implement process improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Perform prototype assembly of mechanical and electronic sub-systems.
- Execute delicate device assembly in accordance with defined SOPs.
- Conduct electrical assembly and testing using specialized equipment.
- Perform mechanical assembly verification using calibrated measurement tools.
- Calibrate, test, and flash prototype electronic devices.
- Collaborate with design engineers for troubleshooting, clarification, and feedback.
- Support the broader Concept organization with assembly efforts.
- Conduct post-mortem activities and implement lessons learned in subsequent projects.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Ability to adapt to a changing daily statement of work and balance multiple priorities.
- Experience writing SOPs and mentoring or reviewing the work of fellow technicians.
- Independent operation with a willingness to propose and implement process improvements.
- Familiarity with Linux, Windows, and macOS; familiarity with Python and Android Debug Bridge (ADB).
- Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering or 3+ years of assembly experience with small electronic devices (laptops, phones, VR equipment).
- Troubleshooting experience for small electronic devices and familiarity with software-driven electronic testing (Python or C++ test scripts).
- Experience with NX, SolidWorks, and 3D printing.
Preferred Skills:
- ADB and Python scripting experience, including using scripts to debug devices.
- Background in assembly environments for consumer electronic devices.
- Prototyping and fixture design experience.
- Experience programming 3-axis glue machines.
- Experience with PCBs, schematics, and soldering.
