Senior Systems Engineer - Cloud Migration & Architecture - Sign on Bonus Eligible!

SITEC Consulting is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support cloud migration, software modernization, strategic product planning, and technical debt reduction efforts for a mission-focused customer environment. This role is ideal for a technical systems engineer with strong software development knowledge, cloud architecture exposure, and the ability to support both hands-on technical efforts and long-term strategic planning.

The Senior Systems Engineer will support evaluating current applications, helping shape future-state solutions, contributing to cloud migration planning, and documenting technical strategies that support modernization and sustainment goals.

This role is eligible for a sign on bonus for fully qualified candidates that are immediately available via security!
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Technical Director in cloud migration planning, execution, and architecture-related initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic product roadmaps, modernization plans, and technical transition strategies.
  • Evaluate current software applications, system capabilities, and technical limitations.
  • Support application redevelopment and modernization efforts based on current-state assessments and future mission needs.
  • Identify, document, and help prioritize technical debt across software applications, systems, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Provide systems engineering support for cloud-based architecture, application migration, and future-state design.
  • Assist with documenting plans, strategies, technical recommendations, and implementation approaches.
  • Work with technical teams, stakeholders, and leadership to align software modernization efforts with mission and customer objectives.
  • Apply software development expertise to support architecture decisions, redevelopment planning, and technical feasibility assessments.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to system performance, maintainability, scalability, and modernization.
Required Qualifications
  • Senior-level systems engineering experience supporting software-intensive systems, cloud migration, or modernization efforts.
  • Strong software development background and understanding of application design, redevelopment, and sustainment.
  • Experience supporting cloud migration, cloud architecture, or application modernization initiatives.
  • Ability to evaluate existing applications and recommend future-state technical approaches.
  • Experience supporting technical roadmap development, strategic planning, or modernization strategy.
  • Strong documentation skills, including the ability to develop technical plans, strategy documents, and architecture-related materials.
  • Ability to identify and communicate technical debt, risks, dependencies, and modernization priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with both technical teams and leadership stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, or mission-focused customer environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development, DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, or cloud-native application concepts.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms.
  • Background supporting application redevelopment, refactoring, re-platforming, or migration planning.
  • Experience developing architecture artifacts, technical roadmaps, or system modernization documentation.
Clearance Requirement
  • An existing TS/SCI clearance w/Poly is a requirement at the time of submission. We are not supporting CCA candidates, or sponsoring upgrades.
