Essential Job Duties Are you interested in using your GIS and data analysis skills to improve railroad safety and efficiency while gaining invaluable real-world work experience? This exciting summer internship opportunity is administered by NC State University's Institute for Transportation Research and Education, but you will be working directly with staff at the North Carolina Department of Transportation's Rail Division.
Specific tasks and skillsets include:
Create, analyze, report, convert, or transfer data using ArcGIS software
Design, program, or model GIS applications and/or procedures related to railroad crossing data, engineering projects, studies, crashes, and railroad incidents
Collect, query, analyze, reconcile, and update rail crossing database
Field work and data gathering activities involving railroad/highway related projects
Correspond with other staff and customers of NCDOT Rail Division
