Position Summary
As a Staff Software Development Engineer, you'll lead the design and delivery of complex, modern software solutions-mentoring engineers, shaping architectural direction, and driving technical excellence. You'll champion the integration of AI-driven features and spearhead the transformation of legacy systems into scalable, user-friendly web applications.

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$118,450.00 - $236,900.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.

What you will do:
- Collaborate within an Agile team to design, develop, and deliver high-quality web and batch applications using Angular, Java, and Oracle technologies.
- Lead modernization initiatives, migrating legacy systems-including green-screen interfaces-to modern, scalable Angular web applications and optimized backend processes.
- Drive the integration of AI and machine learning capabilities into applications, identifying opportunities for automation, intelligent features, and data-driven improvements.
- Develop robust frontend (Angular) and backend (Java/Oracle) code, utilizing test-driven development principles for both web interfaces and batch processing components.
- Mentor and guide team members, providing technical leadership and fostering best practices in coding, architecture, modernization, and AI adoption.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on hands on Java, Angular and Typescript including:
- Proficiency with Oracle databases, including writing complex queries and performance tuning
- Solid understanding of software engineering best practices, including CI/CD and Agile methodologies
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative team
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of progressive experience in software development or architecture
- Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams in an Agile environment
- Deep expertise in designing scalable, high-availability systems using Java, Angular, and TypeScript
- Hands-on experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
- Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and API design
- Experience working with large-scale Oracle databases in enterprise environments
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrated ability to drive technical innovation or process improvement
