Work Arrangement: Hybrid 2 days onsite per week

Duration: 12 months, with likely extension

Position Overview

The Java / React Developer will support the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Project Development and Maintenance programs.

The developer will work as part of an Agile development team and collaborate closely with the Project Manager, Application Owner, Resource Manager, and other technical and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities include analyzing requirements, designing and developing applications, testing, troubleshooting, deploying code, and supporting ongoing application maintenance. The role will also work closely with UI/UX teams to develop modern, responsive, and accessible user interfaces using React.

Strong communication, teamwork, self-direction, problem-solving ability, and the ability to quickly learn new technologies are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain complex enterprise applications.
• Develop backend applications using Java and Spring Framework.
• Build modern, responsive front-end applications using React.js.
• Develop and maintain applications within the JBoss Enterprise environment.
• Work with JPA/Hibernate for persistence and database integration.
• Develop and maintain applications using Oracle 12C/19C.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, development, testing, and deployments.
• Collaborate with project managers, application owners, UI/UX teams, and other developers.
• Troubleshoot application issues and implement effective solutions.
• Follow software development best practices, coding standards, and testing procedures.
• Develop user interfaces with a strong focus on WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards or higher.
• Support application maintenance and enhancements throughout the project lifecycle.
