Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Architect to lead the Architecture & Strategy track for a large-scale data platform transformation initiative. The ideal candidate will evaluate the current data ecosystem, define a target-state architecture, and drive implementation of scalable, governed data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct in-depth analysis of the existing data landscape including data models, pipelines, workflows, and integrations
• Assess systems including Data Warehouses, BigQuery, Amplitude, Periscope, and other data platforms
• Define current-state architecture and identify gaps, inefficiencies, and technical debt
• Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to create a prioritized backlog aligned with business goals
• Design and implement a scalable 3-layer data model (Raw → Transformed → Served)
• Build a semantic layer and standardize metric definitions on BigQuery
• Define and implement data governance frameworks (cataloging, lineage, data quality, PII controls, access management)
• Evaluate and recommend modern BI tools to replace or enhance Periscope
• Deliver architecture blueprint and phased roadmap

Required Skills:

• 12+ years of experience in Data Architecture / Data Engineering / Analytics Engineering
• Strong expertise in Google BigQuery (data modeling, performance tuning, governance)
• Hands-on experience with dbt (data build tool)
• Strong SQL and Python ETL development experience
• Experience with BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, Metabase, or similar
• Strong knowledge of data governance, data lineage, and security best practices
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Amplitude or product analytics platforms
• Background in EdTech or B2C SaaS environments
• Exposure to AI/ML-driven BI or semantic layer tools
