Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer II / QA Inspector to support electrical design review, construction oversight, and quality assurance activities for federal and infrastructure projects. This role combines technical design expertise with field inspection responsibilities to ensure compliance with engineering standards and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
< data-start="1221" data-end="1259">Design & Technical Oversight:>- Review electrical design drawings, calculations, and specifications for compliance with USACE, NEC, UFC, and NFPA standards
- Support design development for power distribution, lighting, grounding, and communication systems
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, civil, structural)
- Prepare technical reports, design analyses, and recommendations
- Participate in constructability reviews, value engineering, and lifecycle cost analysis
< data-start="1736" data-end="1778">Construction & Quality Assurance:>
- Conduct field inspections and QA surveillance for electrical systems
- Monitor Contractor Quality Control (QC) activities for compliance and safety
- Review and process submittals and shop drawings using RMS
- Prepare daily inspection reports (progress, labor, materials, deficiencies)
- Maintain records of materials, testing, and as-built conditions
- Perform pre-final and final inspections and verify corrective actions
- Participate in system commissioning and testing
< data-start="2279" data-end="2312">Project & Field Support:>
- Inspect installations (power systems, lighting, switchboards, motors, controls, HVAC systems, pumping stations)
- Review materials and workmanship against project specifications
- Monitor project progress and estimate completion percentages
- Assist with coordination of utility relocations
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and enforce corrective actions
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5–10 years of experience in electrical design, construction, or QA inspection
- Strong knowledge of NEC, UFC, NFPA, and USACE standards
- Experience with AutoCAD, RMS, and Microsoft Office
- Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills
- Ability to interpret construction schedules and safety plans
- Willingness to travel to project sites (USACE Caribbean District as needed)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with USACE, NAVFAC, or federal projects
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred)
- Experience with backup power systems, renewable energy, or energy efficiency
- Familiarity with design-build delivery and government submittal processes
- Knowledge of LEED or sustainable design standards
- Experience with large infrastructure or civil works projects (e.g., hurricane gates, military facilities, schools, housing)
