Electrical Design Engineer - Automotive Electronics

An automotive electronics manufacturer in Huntsville, Alabama is hiring an Electrical Design Engineer to design new electronic products from RFQ through full production release. The role covers circuit board design, specification reviews, design reviews, failure analysis, and production transfer for vehicle electronic systems. It is an on-site position, and relocation assistance is available.

Full-time, on-site in Huntsville, AL, with a flexible schedule.
Compensation
$120,000 to $130,000 per year.
What You\'ll Do
You will design new automotive electronic products, starting with the RFQ and proposal stage and continuing through full production release. You will review customer and industry specifications, follow program release timelines, and support and lead design reviews. When needed, you will also create simple mechanical designs.
You will design circuit boards from concept to production, create and interpret schematics and wiring drawings, and build assembly documentation packages. You will support preproduction builds and manage the transfer to production.
You will handle system-level engineering and electrical problem analysis for automotive systems. That includes failure analysis on electronic and vehicle-level assemblies using standard lab equipment, and written reports that explain root causes and findings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor\'s degree in electrical engineering
- 5+ years of electrical engineering experience in circuit board design, from concept to production
- Ability to create and interpret schematics and wiring drawings
- Experience performing failure analysis on electronic and vehicle-level assemblies using standard lab equipment
- Ability to document failure analysis results in clear written reports
- System integration experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Master\'s degree in electrical engineering
- PCB layout experience with EMC and EMI design
- Schematic and PCB library development experience
- Experience with Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) processes
- Wireless charging product experience
- Experience with Altium, OrCAD, or Mentor design tools
- Familiarity with automotive quality processes such as APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, or IATF 16949
