What you'll do

Viasat is seeking an experienced Full Stack Software Engineer who is passionate about building high-performance web applications with modern technologies. In this role, you'll help develop an API-driven, multi-network satellite orchestration platform that delivers real-time situational awareness and command-and-control capabilities for a global fleet of high-value aircraft.

As a member of our team, you'll work on mission-critical solutions that operate at a global scale, helping customers make informed decisions in dynamic environments. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage the latest advancements in cloud computing, analytics, and web technologies while collaborating with a talented team dedicated to solving complex challenges and delivering meaningful impact.

The day-to-day

  • Partner with teammates to develop and refine technical designs, applying the right level of structure and detail for the challenge at hand.
  • Rapidly iterate on customer-focused features, embracing feedback and adapting to evolving requirements and priorities.
  • Serve as a frontend or backend subject matter expert, sharing knowledge, mentoring team members, and contributing across the broader technology stack.
  • Work closely with UX designers and cross-functional partners to create intuitive, efficient, and engaging user experiences.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to improve our products, technologies, and development practices, helping the team innovate and grow together.

What you'll need

  • 2+ years of experience developing web applications, with hands-on experience in one or more of the following technologies: React, Spring Boot, Python, or Go.
  • A strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, including software architecture, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Experience building, deploying, and supporting applications in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or other leading cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity with microservices architectures and modern distributed systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance as a condition of employment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% as needed.

What will help you on the job

  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments and contributing to collaborative, iterative software development practices.
  • Familiarity with modern React frameworks and tools, such as Next.js, TanStack, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with database technologies, particularly Redis, Elasticsearch, TimescaleDB, or other high-performance data platforms.
  • Interest in or experience with UX/UI design and a passion for creating intuitive, user-centered experiences.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Ansible, ArgoCD, or similar automation frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
