Position Summary

BlackRock Resources is seeking a Construction Manager - Mechanical to support a major power generation construction project in El Paso, Texas. This is an excellent opportunity for an early to mid-career construction professional with experience managing mechanical construction activities on utility-scale power projects.

The selected candidate will work onsite full-time, supporting daily field construction activities, coordinating contractors, monitoring project progress, and ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow their construction management career while working on a large-scale power generation project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee daily mechanical construction activities in the field.
  • Monitor contractor performance, productivity, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Ensure work is executed in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and project standards.
  • Participate in planning meetings, daily coordination meetings, and contractor progress reviews.
  • Assist with construction planning, sequencing, and issue resolution.
  • Verify installation of mechanical systems including:
    • Pumps
    • Piping systems
    • Heat exchangers
    • Pressure vessels
    • Rotating equipment
    • Balance of Plant (BOP) mechanical systems
  • Track construction progress and prepare field reports.
  • Coordinate with engineering, project management, commissioning, and QA/QC teams.
  • Identify and help resolve construction issues before they impact schedule.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with OSHA and site safety requirements.
  • Support project turnover and mechanical completion activities.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline preferred.
  • 3-7+ years of construction management or field engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting power generation construction projects is required.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems associated with combined-cycle, simple-cycle, fossil, or utility power plants.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors and construction crews.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, and construction specifications.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Combined-cycle power plant experience.
  • Experience with EPC contractors.
  • Field engineering or mechanical installation background.
  • Familiarity with commissioning and startup activities.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Travel & Work Environment
  • 100% onsite in El Paso, Texas
  • Must be willing to relocate temporarily or travel for the duration of the assignment.
  • Project expected to last approximately 24 months.
  • Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required to support the construction schedule.
