Summary

Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe Automation Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead automation initiatives within an enterprise Mainframe environment. The ideal candidate will bring extensive knowledge of Broadcom OPS/MVS, IBM System Automation (SA z/OS), and GDPS automation, contributing to enhancing automation maturity, system resiliency, and modernization efforts. This role requires a proactive leader capable of designing, implementing, and optimizing automation processes in a high-availability setting, supporting both operational efficiency and disaster recovery strategies.


Requirements

  • 8–12+ years of hands-on Mainframe experience with a focus on automation
  • Expertise in Broadcom OPS/MVS, including rule development and automation frameworks
  • Proficiency with IBM System Automation (SA z/OS) policies, resource automation, and operational integration
  • Strong knowledge of GDPS automation concepts such as Metro, Global, and XRC environments
  • Experience with NetView for monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Deep understanding of z/OS core components, JES2/JES3, SYSLOG, WTORs, and IPL procedures
  • Advanced scripting skills, particularly in REXX
  • Ability to develop supportable automation solutions and troubleshoot complex system issues
  • Experience working in high-availability production environments
  • Preferred: Watchtower/observability tools, Ansible, OPS/MVS REST API integration, and automation modernization
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Willingness to support after-hours critical change windows
