Terraform Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Terraform Engineer to design, build, and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions across cloud and on-premise environments. In this role, you will develop reusable Terraform modules, enforce IaC best practices, automate provisioning workflows, and collaborate closely with platform, cloud, and DevOps teams to support scalable, secure infrastructure delivery.
This is an ideal role for someone who loves automation, standardization, and building infrastructure the right way.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Terraform modules, workspaces, and reusable IaC patterns.
• Automate provisioning of cloud and hybrid infrastructure across compute, networking, storage, and platform services.
• Implement IaC best practices, including version control, code reviews, documentation, and testing.
• Integrate Terraform into CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows.
• Work with engineering teams to translate infrastructure requirements into secure, scalable Terraform code.
• Optimize existing Terraform codebases for reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot provisioning issues, state file conflicts, and environment drift.
• Contribute to infrastructure governance, ensuring compliance with security and operational standards.
• Maintain documentation for modules, workflows, environments, and operational procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience developing and managing infrastructure using Terraform in enterprise environments.
• Strong proficiency with Terraform concepts such as modules, state management, workspaces, providers, variables, and policies.
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
• Strong understanding of infrastructure services including VMs, networking, load balancing, storage, IAM, and security controls.
• Proficiency with Git and version-controlled IaC workflows.
• Experience integrating Terraform with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, etc.).
• Ability to write clean, modular, production-ready IaC code.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

Desired Skills

• Experience using Terraform Cloud or Terraform Enterprise.
• Familiarity with policy-as-code frameworks (Sentinel, Open Policy Agent, etc.).
• Scripting experience (Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
• Exposure to Kubernetes or container orchestration.
• Experience with cloud cost optimization and tagging governance.
• Understanding of DevOps/SRE principles and infrastructure automation best practices.
• Knowledge of security controls, secrets management, and compliance automation.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Chandler, AZ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.24 - $73.68/hr.
