Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of sophisticated data streaming platforms using Kafka, ensuring alignment with best practices.


• Architect and build robust microservices in Python that facilitate real-time data processing and system integrations.


• Develop and optimise Kafka Connectors and utilise Kafka Streams to enable real-time analytics and complex data transformations.


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to craft end-to-end data pipelines, prioritising reliability, low latency, and data consistency.


• Provide technical mentorship and guidance on Kafka best practices, schema management, and efficient Python development standards.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Extensive hands-on experience with Confluent Kafka technologies, including Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, KSQL, and Schema Registry.


• Proven proficiency in Python programming for backend services, automation, and data engineering.


• Practical knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform), containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.


• Experience integrating diverse data sources such as SQL and NoSQL databases and managing complex data workflows.


• Familiar with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform and standard DevOps practices.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Prior experience leading technical teams or projects within a data streaming or middleware environment.


• Strong understanding of data governance, security best practices, and schema management.


• Knowledge of additional programming languages or data processing tools will be advantageous.
