Summary

Job Title: Release Engineer
Location: Houston, TX (Onsite)
Job Summary
  • The Release Engineer is responsible for the deployment, release, and maintenance of cloud-based applications and services across platforms such as Azure and AWS.
  • This role ensures smooth transitions of code from development to production while maintaining system integrity, security compliance, and performance optimization.
  • Collaborates with software developers, systems architects, infrastructure teams, and security teams to deliver reliable and scalable cloud solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • CI/CD Pipeline Management
    • Design, implement, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines with security and quality gates.
    • Optimize pipeline performance and automate repetitive tasks.
    • Monitor pipeline health and proactively identify issues using observability tools.
  • Cloud Infrastructure
    • Provision, configure, and manage cloud resources using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
    • Implement blue-green or canary deployments for critical applications.
    • Ensure infrastructure consistency and prevent environment drift.
  • Release Execution & Governance
    • Lead and execute release engineering activities for cloud services while ensuring compliance with security policies and regulations.
    • Act as a gatekeeper in the infrastructure and application lifecycle, ensuring code integrity and quality.
    • Maintain release documentation and versioning practices.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Work closely with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure smooth releases.
    • Communicate release status, issues, and improvements to stakeholders.
  • Mentorship & Strategic Leadership
    • Mentor junior engineers and support global cloud architecture initiatives.
    • Propose and implement innovative solutions to improve release processes.
Required Skills
  • AWS Cloud Architecture
  • Azure Cloud Architecture
  • Performance Monitoring - Cloud Native (AWS CloudWatch, Azure Cloud Monitor) - Testing
  • Terraform
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and CI/CD processes
  • Proficiency in Git workflows and programming concepts
  • Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills
  • Blue-green deployment strategies
  • Canary deployment methodologies
  • Observability and monitoring tools
  • Infrastructure as Code best practices
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of cloud deployment experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing releases and optimizing pipelines with a high degree of autonomy.
  • 5+ years of experience leading release engineering and cloud infrastructure initiatives.
  • Required Certification: AZ-104 Azure Administrator Associate or AWS equivalent.
  • Recommended Certifications: AZ-900, AZ-204, HashiCorp Terraform Associate.
  • Demonstrated ability to support automation, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives in cloud environments.
