Title: Sr. Data Engineer with AWS (Python | Terraform | Distributed Systems)

Location: Hartford, CT, hybrid, with 3 days a week in the office required

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to design and build scalable data pipelines and APIs for a leading insurance client. You’ll lead AWS infrastructure through Terraform, turn high-level concepts into production-ready low-level designs, and act as the main technical contact for client stakeholders. You’ll also mentor developers and set the standard for code quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build RESTful APIs and scalable data engineering pipelines using Python and distributed computing frameworks
• Lead infrastructure management by provisioning, scaling, and optimizing AWS resources through Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
• Turn high-level concepts into production-ready Low-Level Designs (LLD), optimized for performance and database efficiency
• Act as the primary technical liaison, working daily with clients and external stakeholders to gather requirements and clarify business needs
• Drive engineering excellence through daily mentorship, technical guidance, and rigorous peer code reviews

Required Skills

• 13-15 years of experience in data engineering or software engineering
• Production-level Python with a deep understanding of advanced software design patterns
• Hands-on AWS experience with core services (S3, EC2, Lambda, RDS) and containerized deployments
• Proven Terraform experience for multi-environment infrastructure provisioning
• Solid database expertise: schema design, query optimization, and both SQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience building distributed systems and high-throughput data processing workflows
