Summary

Hardware Technical Project Manager – Sustaining Engineering

Location: Redmond (Onsite)
Type: Full-time

Role Summary:
Manage sustaining engineering activities for Microsoft Surface products, supporting global factories and repair centers. Drive quality, cost, and performance improvements throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead sustaining projects across components, testing, processes, and design changes
Perform issue analysis, root cause investigation (FI/FA), and implement corrective actions
Analyze manufacturing performance metrics and conduct ROI evaluations
Coordinate with global manufacturing, repair, and internal teams
Manage BOM updates, change reviews, and documentation for production processes
Track project progress, risks, and deliverables; provide regular status updates
Facilitate cross-functional meetings and follow up on action items

Requirements:

5–8 years of program/project management experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial preferred)
Experience in manufacturing or hardware environments
Knowledge of failure analysis (FI/FA) and product lifecycle management
Strong skills in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)
Familiarity with ERP systems and tools like TFS is a plus
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities
Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
