Job Description:
Must-Have Requirements
- AI application development: Hands-on experience building AI-enabled applications using LLMs, AI APIs, or Azure AI services.
- LLM integration: Experience connecting applications to language models, managing requests and responses, and handling errors, latency, and usage limits.
- Prompt engineering: Ability to design, test, and refine prompts for reliable, secure, and useful results.
- RAG and AI data integration: Experience or practical knowledge of embeddings, vector search, and grounding AI responses in approved data.
- AI quality and safety: Ability to evaluate AI output, manage hallucinations, protect sensitive data, and apply human review where appropriate.
- AI-assisted engineering: Practical use of tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude for development, refactoring, testing, documentation, and debugging, with validation of generated output.
- AI productivity measurement: Ability to use delivery measures such as cycle time, test coverage, defect rates, and review effort to assess productivity improvements.
.NET and Backend Development
- .NET 8+ and C#: Strong, current experience building REST APIs, backend business logic, microservices, and data-access layers.
- Entity Framework Core: Hands-on experience with data modeling, migrations, and database operations.
- SQL Server: Practical experience with T-SQL, database design, stored procedures, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, caching, and authentication and authorization, including OAuth and JWT.
Microsoft Azure and DevOps
- Hands-on experience with Azure App Services, Azure SQL, Storage Accounts, and Azure Functions.
- Experience with Azure Key Vault and API Management.
- Demonstrable experience building and maintaining Azure DevOps Build and Release pipelines, preferably using YAML.
- Familiarity with Git, branching strategies, pull requests, and code review workflows.
- Exposure to ARM, Bicep, or Terraform is a plus.
Unit Testing and Agile Delivery
- Recent, hands-on unit testing experience with xUnit or NUnit for backend services. For frontend work, experience with Jest or React Testing Library.
- Experience delivering within Agile Scrum teams, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, and retrospectives.
- Strong code review, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and scalability practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build AI-enabled application features, integrating LLMs or Azure AI services with .NET APIs and business systems.
- Develop and maintain prompts, RAG workflows, and AI data integrations; evaluate output quality, reliability, security, and performance.
- Build and maintain .NET 8+ REST APIs, microservices, business logic, and data-access components using Entity Framework Core.
- Design, implement, and maintain Azure resources, including App Services, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Key Vault, Storage Accounts, and API Management.
- Configure and maintain Azure DevOps Build and Release pipelines, preferably using YAML.
- Ensure code quality through unit testing, code reviews, and validation of AI-generated code.
- Troubleshoot and improve performance and scalability across the application stack.
- Work with Product Owners, Designers, and QA in an Agile Scrum environment.
The salary range for this position takes into consideration a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, level of experience, applicable office location, training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
The salary range displays the minimum and maximum salary targets for this position across all U.S. locations, and the range has not been adjusted for any specific state differentials. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Final compensation decisions will depend on the unique facts and circumstances of each candidate.
