Staff Engineer (Hands-On + Technical Leadership)

Job Title: Staff Engineer / Technical Lead – Java, Spring Boot & Kubernetes

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Technical Leader who actively contributes to code development while leading and mentoring senior engineers across multiple services. This role requires deep expertise in designing and delivering scalable, distributed systems using modern technologies.

You will own cross-team architecture for Java/Spring Boot applications deployed on Kubernetes, establish engineering best practices, and drive platform-wide initiatives focused on reliability, performance, and quality. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can quickly deliver high-impact solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver complex features using Java and Spring Boot

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to senior developers across teams

• Own and drive cross-team architecture decisions for distributed systems

• Build and maintain applications deployed in Kubernetes environments

• Establish and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and coding guidelines

• Improve system reliability, scalability, and performance through proactive initiatives

• Lead platform-wide efforts including:

  • Observability and monitoring

  • CI/CD quality gates

  • Performance optimization and guardrails

• Actively contribute to codebase with daily hands-on coding

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business goals

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot

• Proven expertise in distributed system design and microservices architecture

• Experience working with Kubernetes and containerized environments

• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, preferably using Jenkins

• Ability to be immediately productive in a fast-paced engineering environment

• Excellent problem-solving and leadership skills

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience leveraging AI/LLM tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) for:

  • Generating unit test cases

  • Refactoring legacy code

  • Accelerating code reviews and documentation

• Ability to evaluate AI-generated outputs for:

  • Enterprise security standards

  • Data privacy compliance

  • Regulatory requirements before production adoption
