Laborer

Strategic Staffing Solutions is currently looking for a Plant Laborer, a W2 contract opportunity!!

Job Summary:

Performs manual duties in power plants to maintain cleanliness and the neat appearance of the facility. The Laborer will perform general housekeeping, area cleanup, maintenance support, environmental and safety checks, grounds maintenance, and other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions & Tasks

• General Housekeeping/Area Clean Up
  
  
  
  • CPS building, clean floors, wash off equipment, perform visual operation check.
  • FGD, clean floors, wash off equipment, perform visual operation check.
  • Units 1&2, visual walked around housekeeping inspection s, visual equipment checks, Sweep/clean burner decks up etc.
  • Turbine Work, sweep floor, clean dust off generator, dump trash cans
  • Possibility of janitor duties cleaning of restrooms, locker rooms, break rooms, service buildings, control rooms, guard shacks etc.
    
  
  
• Dust/Spill Management
  
  
  
  • Gypsum, sweep/shovel up spill areas
  • ECrane, clean deck area around crane
  • Coal, shovel coal back onto belt lines and sweep up residual dust
    
  
  
• Dump Dumpsters
• Fill Kerosene Heaters
• Snow/ICE Removal
  
  
  
  • Doorways and walkways clear with salt added as needed
    
  
  
• Unloading Fuel Trucks, mainly just visual support driver does the work of hooking and un-hooking hoses.
• Preventive Maintenances
  
  
  
  • Walk belt lines
  • Conveyor Greasing
  
  
• Manage Tool Room
  
  
  
  • Track Tool Inventory
  • Scan Tools in and out
  • Preform Rigging Checks
  
  
• Replace Drain Pig Mats for environmental safety

  • Monthly Fire Extinguisher checks
  • Post indicator valve checks
  • Fire hose testing
  • Flip hoses on reel
  
  
• Mowing Grounds
  
  
  
  • Push mowing
  • Weed eating
    
  
  
• Painting
  
  
  
  • Handrail
  • Equipment
  • Lines
  
  
• Changing Light Bulbs
• Patching holes in roadway
• Small plumbing issues
  
• Assist during wet coal situations

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED, Less Than One Year of Experience.

Additional Requirements

• Must be willing to work rotating shifts.
• Must respond to callouts in both outage and non-outage work to maintain and support business operational needs and schedules.
• Must be able to learn and comply with all applicable plant operating instructions and procedures.
• Must be able to learn and comply with the rules, safety practices and procedures applicable to the work environment and report unsafe conditions and practices.
• Must learn and have a working knowledge of Safety and Environmental guidelines.
• Must be able to learn and properly use the tools and equipment applicable to work duties.
• Must be able to read and comprehend written instructions and manuals.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
• Demonstrate professional conduct and effective interactions with employees, contractors and others.
