DOTD is seeking an
Engineer to support transportation projects and programs through roadway design, project development, plan preparation, geometric design, engineering estimates, and technical support for transportation improvement projects.. This position supports the development, delivery, maintenance, or improvement of transportation infrastructure by applying engineering principles, conducting technical analysis, coordinating projects, and conducting compliance-related reviews.
No prior engineering experience is required - training is provided, with opportunities for career progression and advancement through the Engineering job series.

Minimum QualificationsEligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.

This is a temporary position to be utilized while the incumbent is securing a Louisiana Engineer Intern certificate. Permanent status shall be denied to incumbents occupying this position.

Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties:
- Performs or assists with roadway design and project development activities.
- Prepares, reviews, or edits roadway plans, specifications, estimates, calculations, and design documentation.
- Supports geometric design, plan development, design studies, or transportation improvement projects.
- Coordinates with project teams, consultants, districts, utility representatives, and other stakeholders.
- Reviews project documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with DOTD standards and procedures.
- Uses engineering software and design tools to support project development.
- Provides technical assistance related to roadway design, project delivery, or plan review.
- Supports emergency or disaster response activities as needed.

Career Progression: This position is part of a Career Progression Group and may be filled as an Engineer Intern Applicant, Engineer Intern 1, or Engineer Intern 2.
Compensation: Engineer Intern Applicant - Minimum Rate of $1923.20 bi-weekly
Engineer Intern 1 - Special Entrance Rate of $2,692.80 bi-weekly
Engineer Intern 2 - Special Entrance Rate of $2,881.60 bi-weekly
Appointment Type: This position may be filled as a job appointment or probational appointment. A job appointment is a temporary appointment that may last up to 36 months. If filled as a job appointment, the position may be converted to a probational appointment in the future.
