Role Overview

A senior-level Technical Writer is sought to support a large documentation initiative focused on project management, project controls, and internally developed tools. This role will lead the development, restructuring, and ongoing maintenance of PMO documentation. The position is a long-term engagement and will involve working closely with PMO leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to capture, formalize, and maintain evolving processes as new tools and systems are rolled out.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review, update, and restructure an existing PM manual.
  • Develop new documentation from scratch where no existing content is available, including procedures, SOPs, and job aids.
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews to extract process knowledge and document current-state and future-state workflows.
  • Collaborate with PMO leadership and partner teams to define documentation priorities.
  • Create supporting diagrams and flowcharts using Visio or equivalent tools.
  • Support documentation related to PMO tools and systems, including budgeting tools and other platforms.
  • Assess and potentially evolve documentation toward a more scalable knowledge base model over time.
  • Participate in an initial assessment phase to evaluate documentation scope, effort, and sequencing.
  • Maintain documentation as processes change, with the goal of having draft versions of all prioritized documents completed by year-end.
Required Qualifications
  • Senior-level technical writing and documentation experience, including producing large, structured manuals and procedures.
  • Stakeholder interviewing and facilitation skills to extract and translate process knowledge.
  • Ability to organize, restructure, and standardize complex documentation sets.
  • Experience creating process diagrams and flowcharts with tools such as Visio.
  • Comfort working in evolving environments with frequent process and tool changes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience supporting PMOs or project management organizations.
  • Familiarity with knowledge base concepts or document repositories like SharePoint.
