Operating Engineer - JLL

What this job involves:

Build your technical career with JLL as an Operating Engineer at a premier facility in Round Rock, TX. This role offers hands-on responsibility for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting critical building systems in a dynamic manufacturing environment. You'll leverage your technical expertise in mechanical systems while expanding your multi-craft skills across electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and central utility plant operations. This position provides the opportunity to work with advanced facility equipment, solve complex operational challenges, and ensure optimal performance of mission-critical systems that keep our client's operations running smoothly.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Operate, maintain, and repair facility equipment across all building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and control systems
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks including cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing components to maintain equipment at peak performance
  • Monitor and record system readings, making real-time adjustments to ensure proper operation and efficiency
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control system issues to minimize downtime
  • Review client service requests to identify and correct recurring operational problems
  • Coordinate and monitor work performed by outside contractors to ensure quality and value
  • Manage inventory control and evaluate vendors for competitive pricing and quality
  • Maintain compliance with safety protocols for hazardous materials handling, storage, and disposal

Required Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two years of trades schooling in electrical systems, refrigeration, or HVAC
  • Strong analytical skills to diagnose system malfunctions and implement corrective actions
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications in HVAC, electrical, or building operations (EPA Universal, Journeyman Electrician, Building Operator Certification)
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, data center, or mission-critical facility environments
  • Multi-craft maintenance background with cross-functional technical skills

Round Rock, TX 78682

Work Shift:
On-site | Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Must be available for call-in work and perform other duties as required

Salary/Comp:
$26.15 - $32.07/hour, paid bi-weekly
Final compensation will be based on education, experience, skills, geographic location, and internal equity.
