Job title: SAP QA Manger
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced SAP Test Manager who can also function as a Test Program Manager for large-scale SAP transformation initiatives within the Energy & Utilities domain. This role is with a leading service-based organization supporting enterprise SAP programs for a major client.
The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in SAP testing across complex landscapes, including SAP ECC, S/4HANA migrations, upgrades, integrations, and business transformation programs. In addition to managing end-to-end testing activities, the candidate will be responsible for driving overall test program governance, stakeholder coordination, delivery planning, risk management, and execution oversight across multiple workstreams.
This role is focused on strategic testing leadership and program management. Deep hands-on automation expertise is not required, as a dedicated Test Architect supports the automation strategy.
Key Responsibilities
SAP Test Management
- Lead end-to-end SAP testing activities across large enterprise programs.
- Define and manage test strategy, test planning, scope, estimation, scheduling, and execution governance.
- Oversee System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Regression Testing, Smoke Testing, and Cutover Validation activities.
- Coordinate testing across SAP modules including Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Plant Maintenance, IS-U, HR, and other integrated systems.
- Manage defect triage, prioritization, RCA discussions, and resolution tracking with cross-functional teams.
- Ensure traceability between requirements, business processes, and test coverage.
SAP Upgrade & Migration Programs
- Manage testing for SAP ECC to S/4HANA migrations, SAP upgrades, and transformation initiatives.
- Understand impacts of SAP transports, configuration changes, custom developments, interfaces, and data migration activities on testing scope.
- Drive risk-based testing approaches for large-scale SAP releases and upgrade cycles.
- Collaborate with business, SAP functional consultants, development teams, and infrastructure teams to ensure environment readiness and release alignment.
Test Program Management
- Act as the overall Test Program Manager for multi-vendor and multi-workstream delivery programs.
- Govern testing timelines, dependencies, RAID logs, reporting, metrics, and executive dashboards.
- Manage stakeholder communication across client leadership, delivery teams, PMOs, and business users.
- Drive governance forums including daily status calls, defect review meetings, steering committee updates, and release readiness reviews.
- Ensure alignment between testing activities and overall program milestones.
- Identify delivery risks proactively and implement mitigation strategies.
Leadership & Governance
- Lead distributed testing teams across onsite and offshore locations.
- Mentor Test Leads and coordinate with Test Architects, Functional Leads, and Project Managers.
- Establish best practices, testing standards, quality gates, and process improvements.
- Support client escalations and provide leadership during critical production deployment phases.
Required Qualifications
- 18+ years of experience in Software Testing with significant experience in SAP testing programs.
- Proven experience as an SAP Test Manager in large enterprise implementations or transformation programs.
- Strong exposure to SAP upgrades, SAP S/4HANA migrations, and enterprise-wide testing initiatives.
- Experience managing large testing teams across geographically distributed delivery models.
- Strong understanding of SAP business processes and integrated enterprise landscapes.
- Demonstrated experience in Test Program Management and governance.
- Experience working with Energy & Utilities clients is highly preferred.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage complex delivery timelines under high-pressure environments.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to SAP IS-U environments.
- Experience with test management tools such as Jira, HP ALM, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of release management and defect lifecycle governance.
- Familiarity with offshore-onsite delivery models in service-based organizations.
- PMP, ISTQB, SAP certifications, or equivalent program management certifications are a plus.
