The Role We are looking for a Solutions Lead/Architect to lead the technical design and delivery of a complex enterprise workflow modernization program. The engagement involves migrating a business-critical application off a proprietary low-code platform and rebuilding it as a fully code-owned, cloud-hosted solution with modern workflow orchestration, a clean data layer and AI capabilities integrated where they add genuine value. This is a hands-on leadership role. Own the architecture end-to-end, guide a cross-functional delivery team and be the primary technical interface with business stakeholders. The right person is equally comfortable whiteboarding a workflow model with a business analyst and reviewing a pull request with a developer. What You'll Do Architecture & Technical Design - Define and own the end-to-end solution architecture across orchestration, UI and data layers
- Lead the migration design mapping existing business process models to modern workflow orchestration patterns
- Design the data architecture including migration strategy, reporting schema and long-term data ownership model
- Make informed build-vs-buy decisions and document the reasoning through Architecture Decision Records (ADRs)
- Identify and mitigate technical risk early particularly around business logic embedded in legacy platform internals
Team Leadership & Delivery - Set and enforce engineering standards coding practices, branching strategy, PR review, test coverage
- Break down complex requirements into well-scoped, deliverable stories for the development team
- Be the technical escalation point when developers hit complex problems mentor and unblock, don't just direct
- Define and guide the QA strategy, including automation approach and coverage expectations
- Ensure the team's architectural intent is reflected in what actually gets built
Stakeholder Engagement & Migration Leadership - Lead technical discovery sessions with business SMEs to extract and formalize requirements from an existing system
- Own the cutover strategy phased transition, parallel run management and decommission planning
- Communicate technical risk and progress in plain language to non-technical stakeholders
- Manage cross-team dependencies and integration touchpoints with other systems and teams
What You Need Non-negotiable: - Deep BPMN and process modelling expertise you have designed and delivered production workflow solutions, not just diagrams. Understand SLAs, escalations, parallel gateways, exception paths and long-running human tasks at an implementation level.
- Workflow orchestration experience Temporal, Camunda, Flowable, AWS Step Functions or equivalent. Understand durable execution, state management and the real differences between orchestration and choreography.
- Solid backend development fluency you can read and reason about Python, Java or TypeScript at a level that lets you validate a developer's implementation, not just review the concept.
- Relational database design comfortable designing normalized schemas, writing non-trivial queries and thinking through performance implications from day one.
- Re-platforming or migration experience you have successfully moved an application off a legacy or low-code platform. Understand where the hidden business logic hides and how to find it before it becomes a production incident.
- Technical discovery capability you can walk into a room, interview stakeholders who have been using a system for years and turn what hear into a coherent, buildable functional specification.
Strong Advantages - GenAI / LLM integration experience specifically using AI as part of a workflow pipeline (tool calling, RAG, prompt engineering, embedding models) rather than as a standalone product.
- Experience migrating from Appian, Pega, ServiceNow or a similar enterprise low-code platform.
- Telecom, utilities or field operations domain knowledge understanding of work order or build project lifecycles is a meaningful accelerator.
- Spatial / GIS data experience working with geographic datasets and PostGIS or equivalent.
- Front-end familiarity enough React or low-code UI experience to have a productive conversation about form logic, conditional rendering and API integration with the front-end team.
- AWS cloud and container orchestration (EKS / Kubernetes) deployment-level awareness of how distributed workflow workers are hosted and scaled.
