Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Release Manager to coordinate and oversee the end-to-end software release lifecycle. The ideal candidate will ensure timely, high-quality releases aligned with business objectives while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Release Planning & Coordination:
Develop and maintain release schedules, timelines, and roadmaps
Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Development, QA, Operations, Product)
Facilitate release planning meetings and provide regular status updates
Manage dependencies across teams and applications
Release Process Management:
Define and enforce release policies, procedures, and best practices
Oversee build, deployment, and configuration management processes
Manage code freezes, branching strategies, and version control
Handle release environments and infrastructure readiness
Quality Assurance & Governance:
Ensure release quality gates and criteria are met before deployment
Review test results and quality metrics
Coordinate UAT (User Acceptance Testing) activities
Track and manage defects through resolution
Risk & Issue Management:
Identify, document, and mitigate release-related risks
Develop contingency and rollback plans
Manage scope changes and prioritization during release cycles
Communication & Documentation:
Provide regular updates to stakeholders
Maintain release documentation and notes
Conduct post-release retrospectives and drive improvements
Communicate release impacts to support teams and end users
Required Skills:
3+ years of experience in Release Management or similar role
Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Hands-on experience with version control systems (Git, SVN)
Strong project management and organizational skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management
Preferred Skills:
Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
Familiarity with tools like Jira, Azure DevOps
Knowledge of infrastructure automation and configuration management
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
ITIL knowledge or certification
Technical background in development or system administration
Working Conditions:
May require occasional after-hours support during release windows
Ability to work under pressure in critical release situations
