Senior DevOps Engineer (CI/CD, Build Systems & Rendering Pipelines)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced, analytical, and technically rigorous Senior DevOps Engineer to join our core rendering technology group. In this role, you will expand, optimize, document, design, and maintain automated build, integration, release, and deployment systems for an award-winning, open-source production rendering engine and advanced toolset. You will work closely with software engineering teams to ensure our proprietary rendering infrastructure is built, tested, and distributed reliably across enterprise studio infrastructure and open-source ecosystems.
This is a high-impact engineering role for a seasoned professional who excels at complex build automation and cross-platform dependency management. You will troubleshoot multi-platform compilation pipelines, streamline CI/CD workflows, and champion software reliability across Linux, macOS, and Windows environments. Key Responsibilities
CI/CD Pipeline Engineering & Automation
Pipeline Development: Design, build, debug, and maintain complex enterprise CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, including configuring and managing self-hosted runners and custom actions.
Automation & Scripting: Develop robust automation scripts, tooling, and pipeline integrations leveraging Python and advanced shell scripting (Bash).
Release Management: Oversee automated build, packaging, release, and deployment processes for core software libraries and rendering engines, ensuring seamless distribution.
C++ Build Systems & Multi-Platform Support
Compilation Management: Administer the C++ compilation pipeline-including managing compilers, linkers, static/dynamic libraries, and Docker containerization.
Dependency & Package Tooling: Utilize and maintain modern package managers and build automation tools such as CMake, Conan, and Rez.
Cross-Platform Engineering: Manage builds and troubleshoot compilation dependencies across multiple operating systems, including Linux (Rocky 9), macOS (M-series), and Windows.
Version Control Governance: Oversee advanced Git version control operations, including branching strategies, submodules, hook configurations, and large repository management.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Experience Baseline: Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps engineering, configuration management, software build engineering, or CI/CD development.
Technical Mastery:
oLinux Expertise: Expert-level administration, configuration, and performance tuning skills in Linux environments, including deep familiarity with Bash scripting and package management.
oCI/CD Ecosystems: Extensive hands-on experience building and maintaining enterprise pipelines using GitHub Actions.
oProgramming: Strong proficiency in Python for automation, tool development, and system integration.
oC++ Build Tooling: Deep understanding of the C++ compilation pipeline, Docker containerization, Conan, Rez, and CMake build automation.
oVersion Control: Complete mastery of Git workflows, submodules, and large repository handling.
Core Competencies: Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to engineering and management levels; exceptional technical documentation habits.
Preferred Attributes
Practical experience managing multi-platform builds and troubleshooting compilation dependencies across Linux, macOS (Apple Silicon M-series), and Windows.
Familiarity with Rez package managers and VFX-standard runtime environments.
Prior professional experience working within a visual effects (VFX), animation, gaming, or high-performance graphics studio pipeline.
