Job Description:

The Lead Datacenter Technician is responsible for maintaining and supporting data center infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security of systems and equipment.
This role includes preventative maintenance, server management, system monitoring, equipment installation, cross-functional collaboration, and technical support.

Responsibilities:

Perform preventative maintenance on data center equipment and network devices.
Run and label cabling and support physical security improvements within the data center.
Participate in building projects and inspect utilities, power sources, and heating and cooling systems to prevent overheating.
Maintain working knowledge of facility machinery supporting data center infrastructure, including CRAC, UPS, PDU, switchgear, ATS, and power strips.
Troubleshoot and repair servers with hardware and network issues.
Run hardware diagnostics and replace failing components.
Manage day-to-day server performance and capacity.
Monitor and maintain network processes and evaluate system temperature levels for optimal performance.
Maintain accurate work records, event logs, and provide status reports to management.
Install and rack new equipment, including servers, switches, routers, and related hardware.
Perform cabling, labeling, and maintain inventory of cabling and equipment.
Provide live technical support to clients and team members.
Educate staff on troubleshooting hardware and data center best practices.

Requirement/Must Have:

Experience in hardware repair and basic network equipment troubleshooting.
Knowledge of installing and configuring servers, switches, routers, and networking equipment.
Strong troubleshooting skills for cabling and hardware issues.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.
Technical writing skills for developing standard operating procedures and documentation.
Experience maintaining inventory of tools, equipment, and network devices.

Qualification And Education:

Associate or Bachelor s degree in a technical field is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to remain on feet for extended periods.
Ability to crawl, crouch, kneel, and lift equipment as required.
Ability to move equipment over short distances.
