Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Data Warehouse Architect to lead the design, enhancement, and optimization of our enterprise data warehouse solutions. In this role, you will bridge the gap between backend data engineering and business intelligence—architecting robust, scalable data models while ensuring seamless data ingestion from diverse sources (including Oracle) into a Microsoft ecosystem.

The ideal candidate brings a masterful mix of SQL Server expertise, SSIS pipeline development, and advanced Power BI dataset design. While preference will be given to local candidates in the St. Louis area for a hybrid arrangement, we are open to fully remote setups for exceptionally qualified national talent.

Key Responsibilities

• Architecture & Modeling: Design, develop, and maintain high-performance enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) architecture utilizing Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, and advanced Dimensional Modeling.

• Database Engineering: Build and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases, views, stored procedures, and complex T-SQL queries.

• ETL/ELT Pipeline Design: Architect and build robust data integration and migration solutions using SSIS to ingest data from multiple systems, explicitly integrating Oracle source environments.

• Business Intelligence & Analytics: Create, design, and optimize semantic models and complex DAX queries to support high-performance Power BI dashboards and executive analytics.

• Performance Tuning: Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and tune database workloads and query performance across large-scale datasets.

• Data Governance & Collaboration: Partner with business stakeholders to translate analytical requirements into technical realities while ensuring strict data quality, security, and governance.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 10+ years of dedicated experience in Data Warehousing, Database Architecture, or Senior Data Warehouse Development.

• Expert SQL Server & T-SQL Skills: Deep hands-on expertise in advanced SQL programming, complex queries, and rigorous query performance tuning.

• ETL Mastery: Extensive, proven experience using Microsoft SSIS for enterprise-level ETL/ELT development and data migration.

• Advanced Power BI: Strong experience handling end-to-end Power BI infrastructure, specifically focusing on data modeling, dataset design, optimization, and DAX.

• Core DWH Concepts: Flawless understanding of Fact & Dimension tables, Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD), and data warehouse design patterns.

• Cross-Platform Integration: Demonstrated experience integrating and migrating data from Oracle Database environments into SQL Server infrastructure.

Preferred & Nice to Have Qualifications

• Familiarity or hands-on experience with Azure Data Services (Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse).

• Experience writing or optimizing Oracle PL/SQL.

• Strong understanding of Master Data Management (MDM) and formal data governance frameworks.

• Active Microsoft SQL Server or Azure Data certifications.

• Experience operating within Agile/Scrum delivery teams.
