Job Description

 

Seine Client is seeking a Structural Engineering Manager to lead the planning, development, and execution of civil/structural design requirements and engineering support processes for a nuclear non-power reactor facility.  

This position is primarily on-site in Janesville, WI, but hybrid work arrangements will be considered.

The base salary range for this position is $130,000 - $180,000 per year plus a comprehensive compensation package. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead team of civil/structural engineers, including external consultants, and the contracted Engineer of Record design firm.
  • Manages SEINE CLIENT employees, including hiring and performance management, ensures employees are trained, and team standards are achieved.
  • Manage construction/modification projects and configuration of systems through drawings, procedures, and design documentation. 
  • Ensure the team develops detailed structural designs and specifications; evaluate methods being used; resolve complex technical problems, and review drawings. 
  • Provide technical expertise and support to the structural design and modifications required for equipment replacement, and repair/modification of the facility. 
  • Regularly meets and coordinates with internal and external design and construction teams.   
  • Prepare and/or assist others in developing safety-related documentation, such as the safety analysis and safety plans as required by NRC regulations. 
  • Lead the development and implementation of structural calculations, design criteria, design drawings, sketches and specifications for facility structural requirements. 
  • Verify and/or review all civil/structural design calculations and including vendor documentation.
  • Provide day-to-day management and approval on technical matters related to structural engineering issues. 
  • Perform all assignments in accordance with ES&H, security, and business practice requirements and policies.    
  • Interface with team and provides direction on schedules, contracts, estimates, scope of work requirements, etc.   

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering from accredited program
  • Professional Engineering License in Wisconsin preferred
  • Minimum 5 years related management experience leading civil/structural teams 
  • Engineering change process experience 
  • Knowledge of 10CFR50.59 process 
  • Knowledge and ability to apply safety basis requirements to systems, structures or components in nuclear facilities  
  • Experienced in design reviews and design review preparation 
  • Experience with structural analysis methods such as soil-Structure interaction, seismic analysis and accident/pushover analysis for hazardous facilities  
  • Experience with nuclear facilities and ability to interact with SEINE CLIENT Licensing and NRC (regulator) in describing facility licensing approach  
  • Component and system design experience 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills 

Working Conditions and Physical Effort: 

  • Requires frequent leaning, bending, stooping, crouching, grasping, and reaching above the shoulders and below the knees.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average weight objects up to 40 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day. 
  • Fine motor coordination and strong depth perception is beneficial.
  • Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. 
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
