Summary
We are seeking a Radio Engineer to serve as the subject matter expert responsible for developing, testing, and distributing radio programming templates (codeplugs) for a massive regional fleet of over 44,000 public safety radios.
Location: Dimondale, MI
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Interview Process: Web Cam or In-Person Interview
Note: This is a dedicated Radio/RF Communications role, not an IT/Enterprise Network Engineering position.
Key Technical Skills (Are You a Match?)
Required Core Skills:
- P25 Radio Programming: 2 to 3+ years of hands-on experience using Motorola and Kenwood software.
- Field Experience: 3+ years of experience working as a Radio or Communications Technician.
- Credentials: Must hold an FCC General Radio Telephone License (GROL), APCO Certificate, or an approved equivalent.
- Data Management: Proficiency in data logging and asset management using EAM software, MS Access, and MS Excel.
Highly Desired (Huge Plus):
- P25 Encryption: Experience with Key Management Facility (KMF) and AES security protocols.
- Industry Background: Prior experience in Military, Public Safety, or professional Two-Way Radio communications environments.
Primary Responsibilities
- Build & Quality Check Templates: Create prototype programming files, troubleshoot errors, and coordinate fleet-wide radio updates.
- Database Management: Input hardware configurations and accurately determine corresponding billing levels within asset management databases.
- Technical Support: Key-in encryption codes, troubleshoot device operation issues on the network, and evaluate new radio equipment against technical performance standards.
