Role : Solution Architect
Location : Mettawa, IL (Hybrid)
Serve as Solution Architect for one or more initiatives involving custom application development, platform modernization, or digital transformation
Translate business requirements into endtoend technical solutions, covering application architecture, data, security, and nonfunctional requirements
Design and govern Java and/or .NET based application architectures, including:
- Layered and microservices architectures
- APIfirst or serviceoriented designs (where applicable)
- Cloudnative and hybrid deployments
Create and review architecture artifacts, including:
- Solution and component diagrams
- Highlevel and lowlevel design documents
- Deployment and environment architecture
Ensure solutions comply with enterprise standards, security controls, and GxP regulatory expectations
Guide development teams on:
- Design patterns and coding standards
- Technology selection and platform fit
- Performance, scalability, and resiliency considerations
Collaborate closely with:
- Business stakeholders and product owners
- Development, QA, DevOps, and platform teams
- Security and compliance teams
Participate in architecture reviews, design approvals, and production readiness assessments
Act as a technical escalation point for complex design or performance issues
Required Skills & Experience
Core Architecture & Development
- 12+ years of overall IT experience with 7+ years in solution / application architecture roles
- Strong handson background in Java and/or .NET application development and architecture
- Proven experience designing:
- Enterprisescale applications
- Distributed systems and services
- Cloudready architectures
- Deep understanding of OOAD principles, design patterns, and SOLID practices
Platform & Technology
- Experience with one or more of:
- Java (Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, etc.)
- .NET (.NET Core / .NET 6+, ASP.NET, C#)
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
- Familiarity with REST APIs, messaging, and data access layers
- Integration platforms and middleware experience a plus, not mandatory
Life Sciences & Compliance
- Experience working in Life Sciences, Healthcare, or other regulated environments
- Understanding of GxP compliance, validation principles, and documentation rigor
Leadership & Communication
- Strong ability to communicate architecture decisions to both technical and nontechnical audiences
- Experience working with onsite/offshore delivery models
- Comfortable operating in Agile, SAFe, or hybrid delivery environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with legacy modernization (monolith to modular or cloudnative)
- Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and release management
- Knowledge of data platforms, event streaming, or domaindriven design
- Prior onsite engagement with enterprise clients in a consultative role
