Job Summary

We are looking for a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Product / Nutrition Specification Consultant to support the development, review, and maintenance of product specifications, nutritional information, ingredient declarations, and technical documentation.

The consultant will work closely with Product Development, Quality Assurance, Regulatory, Procurement, and suppliers to ensure that product and nutrition specifications are accurate, compliant, consistent, and aligned with customer and market requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and maintain product specifications for food, beverage, nutrition, or consumer products.
• Prepare and validate nutritional specifications, including calories, macronutrients, vitamins, minerals, allergens, and other relevant nutritional parameters.
• Review ingredient specifications, raw-material documentation, certificates of analysis (COAs), and supplier technical data.
• Ensure product specifications comply with applicable food safety, nutrition, labeling, and regulatory requirements.
• Verify ingredient lists, allergen declarations, nutrition panels, claims, serving sizes, and product attributes.
• Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to obtain and validate technical and nutritional information.
• Identify discrepancies between formulation, laboratory results, supplier data, and product specifications and coordinate corrective actions.
• Support new product development (NPD) by preparing technical and nutritional specifications.
• Conduct nutritional calculations and assess formulation changes for their impact on nutritional values and product claims.
• Maintain accurate and controlled specification records and databases.
• Support customer or retailer specification questionnaires and technical documentation requirements.
• Assist with audits, regulatory reviews, customer queries, and technical documentation requests.
• Monitor changes in regulations, ingredients, formulations, and customer requirements that may affect specifications.
• Provide technical guidance to Product Development, Quality, Regulatory, and commercial teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Food Technology, Dietetics, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Experience in food, beverage, nutrition, dietary supplements, FMCG, or a related industry.
• Strong understanding of food ingredients, nutrition, labeling, allergens, and product specifications.
• Experience with nutritional calculations and technical documentation.
• Good understanding of food regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with complex technical data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as a consultant as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with product specification or PLM/specification management systems.
• Familiarity with nutritional databases and formulation/nutrition calculation software.
• Experience working with retailers, customers, suppliers, or regulatory authorities.
• Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, food safety standards, and quality management systems.
• Experience with international food regulations and labeling requirements.
• Advanced Excel/data-management skills.
