Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead and deliver complex IT projects from planning through closeout. This role partners closely with internal stakeholders to manage project execution, ensure alignment with objectives, and drive successful delivery of technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
- Develop and implement technical project plans aligned with project objectives
- Support completion of Project Approval Lifecycle (PAL) stages and associated deliverables
- Contribute to development of project management plans and supporting documentation
Project Coordination & Delivery
- Coordinate and monitor completion of project deliverables, tasks, and action items
- Facilitate recurring and ad hoc meetings, ensuring agendas, minutes, and action items are documented
- Manage project schedules and ensure timely delivery of milestones
Performance Monitoring & Risk Management
- Monitor project performance including scope, schedule, risks, issues, and quality
- Maintain risk registers, issue logs, change requests, and decision logs
- Implement corrective and mitigative actions as needed
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead and prioritize work across project teams and external consultants
- Provide technical presentations and briefings to stakeholders and executive leadership
- Participate in executive steering committee meetings and milestone reviews
Quality Assurance & Documentation
- Develop and maintain quality assurance processes
- Ensure project documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with standards
- Support knowledge sharing and lessons learned documentation
Project Closeout
- Assist with project closeout activities including lessons learned and post-implementation reporting
- Contribute to evaluation reports and final project documentation
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience managing large-scale IT projects in the public sector
- 5+ years managing technically complex systems (software, network, or cloud-based)
- Experience completing PAL Stages 2, 3, and 4 for State of California projects
- Strong experience in project planning, scheduling, and risk management
- Current PMP (Project Management Professional) certification
- Bachelor’s degree
