Location: Waterloo, IA

Duration: 12 months with possible extension

About the Role

We are seeking a mechanically inclined, organized professional to support the operation and readiness of a test tractor fleet. This is a fully onsite, hands-on role with time spent on the shop floor and occasional driving within a 30-mile radius of the facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and direct on-site and off-site resources to maintain fleet readiness
• Review completed work and collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Diagnose and troubleshoot tractor mechanical issues
• Ensure schedules, specifications, and quality standards are met
• Communicate with contract vendors and provide project status updates
• Participate in project meetings
• Order, track, and store project materials

Qualifications

• Technical or Engineering degree (Engineering preferred; entry-level candidates welcome)
• Strong mechanical background
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel (functions and pivot tables)
• Ability to learn company systems, including diagnostics software, CAD viewers, and ERP tools
• Strong communication skills; able to influence without formal authority in a union environment
• Self-starter and quick learner

Physical & Safety Requirements

• Metatarsal safety shoes required from day one
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
• Ability to spend ~50% of the workday on the shop floor

Driving Responsibilities

• Operate tractors on test tracks and facility property
• Drive company utility and fleet vehicles for local travel and parts pickup (within 30 miles)
• Must pass a Motor Vehicle Screen after offer acceptance
