Lead FullStack Developer

Salary: $112,500-$150,000

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead FullStack Developer with strong expertise in Next.js and Express.js to guide the development of a B2B ecommerce platform preparing for launch. This role requires hands-on development, architectural decisionmaking, and leadership of a small engineering team (2-3 developers).

You will work across the entire stack from eventdriven, Reactbased frontend interfaces to secure API logic while ensuring that data visibility, access control, and compliance requirements are met with precision.

This position is ideal for a developer who can balance technical execution, system architecture, and team leadership in a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Lead and mentor a team of 2-3 fullstack engineers, ensuring high-quality delivery and adherence to best practices.
• Own architectural decisions and guide the evolution of the platform.
• Conduct code reviews, oversee engineering workflows, and set development standards.

FullStack Development

• Lead the development and optimization of the Next.js front end, including:
  • React-based event-driven UI patterns
  • Server-side and client-side rendering
  • Component architecture and performance tuning
• Design, build, and maintain Express.js backend services:
  • API routing
  • Dataset retrieval based on dynamic request parameters
  • Data validation and error-handling patterns

Platform & Data Integrity

• Implement and maintain complex access-control rules, ensuring user-specific and customer-specific data visibility.
• Ensure system reliability and accuracy in data returned across all API endpoints.
• Work closely with product and QA to enforce rigorous test coverage.

Security & Compliance

• Develop in alignment with CMMC objectives and protocols.
• Ensure proper handling and protection of ITARcontrolled data across two operational sites.
• Implement secure coding practices, logging, monitoring, and auditability to support compliance readiness.

Collaboration & Delivery

• Partner with product management and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical execution.
• Prepare the platform for production readiness, launch activities, and ongoing iteration.
• Coordinate with DevOps teams on deployment pipelines, environments, and reliability efforts.

Qualifications

Required

• 5+ years of fullstack development experience with strong proficiency in:
  • Next.js (React-based)
  • Node.js & Express.js
• Demonstrated ability to lead small engineering teams.
• Strong experience with:
  • Event-driven UI patterns
  • REST API design and integration
  • Secure data handling and access-control logic
• High attention to detail, especially regarding data correctness and authorization flows.
• Experience delivering production-ready web applications.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred

• Experience working in regulated or security-focused environments.
• Familiarity with:
  • CMMC compliance frameworks
  • ITAR data handling requirements
• Experience with B2B, enterprise, or multitenant platform design.
• Knowledge of relational databases (e.g., Postgres, SQL Server).
• Exposure to cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or similar).

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with role-based access control (RBAC) or attribute-based access control (ABAC).
• Knowledge of event-driven backend patterns (queues, workers, etc.).
• DevOps familiarity (CI/CD, containerization, infra as code).
