Title: Quality Engineer – Automotive / Customer Support Engineer

Position Overview
We are seeking a Customer Support Engineer (Resident Quality Engineer) to support automotive manufacturing operations at a customer site in Reno, NV. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary quality liaison between the customer plant and supplier, driving issue resolution, supporting containment activities, and ensuring timely corrective actions for quality concerns.
This position is highly visible and requires strong communication skills, quality engineering expertise, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Communicate effectively and promptly when plant Quality Concern Notifications are issued.
Present issue resolution status and progress updates to plant management.
Serve as the primary interface between the customer plant and the Quality organization.
Support investigations of emerging quality concerns with Incoming Quality teams.
Understand supplier manufacturing processes and coordinate supplier visits as needed.
Ensure defective material returned to suppliers is properly processed and tracked.
Verify certified stock usage and monitor containment activities on production lines.
Quarantine suspect inventory and coordinate shipment back to suppliers when required.
Drive issue closure and communicate status updates to all affected stakeholders.
Participate in Incoming Quality meetings and supplier dispute resolution activities.
Support bi-weekly supplier review meetings and daily plant quality meetings.
Conduct surveillance audits related to quality concerns and production issues.
Coordinate warranty part shipments and follow up to ensure timely delivery.
Work closely with supplier contacts to ensure containment actions, corrective actions, and 8D reports are completed on schedule.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent STEM discipline.
3–5 years of experience in a Quality Engineering role within an automotive manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Experience with quality problem-solving methodologies and root cause analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
Wiring Harness Engineering or Wire Harness Manufacturing experience.
Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and architectures.
Experience troubleshooting wiring harness-related issues.
Familiarity with quality methodologies such as:
