The Opportunity
Accelerate the transition toward sustainable energy infrastructure by taking ownership of critical grid integration and power system compliance initiatives across North America. StaffRight Associates is sourcing for a premier global renewable energy leader to secure top-tier engineering talent for this pivotal function. Operating in a flexible hybrid model based out of Houston, Texas, this position oversees complex electrical pre-design, power plant control engineering, and interconnections for large-scale utility projects across the United States and Canada.
What You’ll Do
Architect, evaluate, and optimize grid compliance strategies for major renewable energy installations throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
Review client contracts, interconnection documentation, and system operator mandates to isolate technical risks and draft precise compliance frameworks.
Collaborate alongside commercial and bid teams to deliver site-specific engineering designs, value-engineered solutions, and tailored technical offerings.
Synthesize findings from electrical pre-design analyses to mitigate operational risks early and enhance overall plant performance.
Formulate Functional Design Specifications for Power Plant Controllers, Yaw Power Backup Systems, and sophisticated control architectures.
Engage directly with system operators, regulatory panels, and technical working groups to guide model utilization and ensure alignment with regional grid requirements.
Design rigorous grid compliance test suites, driving site settings and providing specialized oversight during system commissioning and energization.
Champion technical excellence by mentoring junior engineering staff and educating cross-functional sales divisions on evolving technological capabilities.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Power Systems or Control Systems (Master’s Degree or Professional Engineer status highly desirable).
Minimum of 7 years of hands-on expertise in Electrical Power Systems, Grid Integration, or Control Systems Engineering.
In-depth proficiency interpreting North American Grid Codes, NERC Reliability Standards, and international guidelines including IEC, IEEE, and UL.
Demonstrated exposure to advanced modeling tools such as PSCAD, PSS/E, TSAT, or E-TRAN.
Familiarity with operational software including SAP, CAD Tools, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Practical background supporting Wind Power Plants, Turbine Implementations, or Substation Controls.
Mastered capabilities in Technical Sales Support, Value Engineering, Commissioning, Testing, and Functional Design Specification Creation.
Exceptional cross-functional leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to interface effectively with external clients and international stakeholders.
Compensation & Total Rewards
Annual base salary ranging between $175,000 and $220,000.
10% annual performance bonus.
Comprehensive relocation assistance package available.
Hybrid work schedule (3 days per week office-based in Houston, TX).
