Job Summary

The Field Engineer Intern will support MasTec's construction project teams by assisting with field operations, project documentation, procurement processes, and quality assurance initiatives. This 8-week internship provides hands-on experience in construction management, offering exposure to project coordination, field inspections, safety compliance, and engineering support functions. The intern will work closely with field personnel, document control, and project management teams to ensure accurate reporting, timely material coordination, and adherence to MasTec's operational standards and culture.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with submittals, field work packages, compiling as-built data, quantity verification, and field safety and quality inspections.
  • Perform procurement quantity takeoffs.
  • Complete daily reports using construction management software.
  • Support the compilation of required documentation for project submittals and coordinate with Document Control to ensure proper processing.
  • Assist in coordinating material deliveries to project sites.
  • Conduct field verifications, inspections, and measurements as needed.
  • Collaborate with document control and field teams to ensure access to current drawings and installation documents.
  • Assist with cost coding and project tracking activities.
  • Review and gain an understanding of redline and as-built processes.
  • Attend required project briefings, safety meetings, and training sessions.
  • Complete all necessary job-specific training requirements.
  • Demonstrate consistent engagement in and promotion of MasTec's culture, values, and essential behaviors.
  • Maintain regular attendance, punctuality, and reliability.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Flexible and willing to work in both office and field environments as project needs require.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Highly motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow within the construction industry.
