Technical Lead – PDI, .NET and Azure
We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead with strong PDI platform expertise to lead the design, development, integration, deployment, and support of back-office and store technology solutions. This is a local requirement, and the consultant must be based in the Atlanta metropolitan area and available for onsite collaboration as required. The role combines hands-on technical delivery with solution leadership across PDI, .NET, Microsoft Azure, ETL, APIs, store-facing applications, and enterprise integrations. The successful candidate will guide engineering teams, partner with business and technology stakeholders, and ensure the delivery of secure, scalable, and reliable solutions that improve store operations and user experience.
Location and Work Requirements
- Must be based in the Atlanta metropolitan area and available for onsite collaboration as required by the engagement.
- Work closely with business, product, architecture, engineering, infrastructure, support, and vendor teams.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical decisions, risks, dependencies, and delivery status to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership while independently managing priorities, documentation, issue resolution, and delivery commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for PDI-based back-office, retail, and store technology solutions.
- Own solution design and technical delivery across PDI configurations, interfaces, data flows, custom extensions, and dependent applications.
- Lead the design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of .NET services, RESTful APIs, backend workflows, and enterprise integrations.
- Design, implement, and support Microsoft Azure services, ETL pipelines, monitoring, and data-integration processes.
- Guide frontend development for store- and operations-facing applications using React and TypeScript where applicable.
- Translate business and operational requirements into scalable technical designs, delivery plans, and engineering tasks.
- Lead technical reviews, code reviews, testing strategy, release planning, deployment, troubleshooting, and production support.
- Coordinate with PDI, third-party vendors, and internal teams to resolve integration, data, performance, and operational issues.
- Mentor developers, establish engineering standards, and ensure adherence to security, reliability, maintainability, and documentation practices.
- Develop and maintain solution-design documents, interface specifications, deployment procedures, support guides, and operational runbooks.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least eight years of professional software engineering experience, including three or more years in a technical lead or solution lead capacity.
- Strong hands-on experience with PDI solutions in retail, convenience-store, fuel, or store back-office environments.
- Demonstrated experience with PDI integrations, data flows, interfaces, configuration, troubleshooting, and production support.
- Strong hands-on development experience with .NET, C#, RESTful APIs, and backend services.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based integration or ETL solutions.
- Experience leading solution design, technical estimation, code reviews, release planning, and engineering delivery.
- Proficiency with Git-based development workflows and CI/CD pipelines, preferably Azure Pipelines.
- Must be based in the Atlanta metropolitan area and able to work onsite as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PDI Enterprise, PDI back-office solutions, or related PDI retail and fuel technology products.
- Experience integrating PDI with point-of-sale, payments, pricing, inventory, loyalty, accounting, ERP, or third-party platforms.
- Experience with TypeScript and a modern frontend framework such as React or Angular.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
- Experience with Azure monitoring, logging, security, performance tuning, and production operations.
- Experience managing vendor dependencies and leading geographically distributed engineering teams.
- Strong analytical, stakeholder-management, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.
