Summary

Objectives of the position

  • Deliver robust embedded software for medical devices in compliance with applicable quality and regu-latory requirements.
  • Contribute to architecture, implementation, verification, troubleshooting, and lifecycle maintenance of embedded firmware.
  • Supportconnectivity, cybersecurity, production readiness, and design transfer activities.
  • Ensuresoftware documentation and traceability are maintained according to internal processes.

 

Tasks

  Main tasks

  • Managework packages and sub-projects, ensuring they meet time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Collaboratein product definition, feasibility studies, prototype development, and technical concept eval-uation from an embedded software perspective.
  • Design, implement, test, debug, and document embedded software for connected devices, using ap-propriate development tools, configuration management, and defect tracking systems.
  • Execute,analyze, and document engineering tests, providing feedback for product optimization.
  • Ensurecompliance with regulatory requirements and quality management processes, following industry standards.
  • Supportdesign transfer and product modifications, working with cross-functional teams.
  • Participatein innovation processes, evaluating new technologies and proposing ideas.
  • Developembedded firmware in C/C++ for microcontroller-based medical devices.
  • Developand maintain device drivers, hardware abstraction layers, communication interfaces, bootload-ers, diagnostics, and production test software.
  • Support board bring-up, prototype debugging, hardware/software integration, and troubleshooting to-gether with electronics engineering.
  • Workwith RTOS and/or bare-metal embedded systems.
  • Supportsecure firmware update mechanisms, connectivity, and device communication interfaces.
  • Performunit, integration, regression, and system-level testing of embedded software.
  • Contributeto software architecture, requirements, risk controls, verification documentation, and tracea-bility.
  • Support production ramp-up, design transfer, manufacturing troubleshooting, and post-market product maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering, computer science, Embedded Systems Engi-neering, or a related field
  • Understanding of embedded systems design, real-time operating systems, bare-metal development, communication interfaces, control systems, and connected-device architectures.
  • Proficiencyin embedded C/C++ and familiarity with embedded development environments and tool-chains such as IAR, GCC, Keil, Visual Studio Code, CMake, or similar.
  • Strongknowledge of embedded C/C++ development.
  • Experiencewith microcontrollers, embedded toolchains, debuggers, and configuration management.
  • Familiarity with communication interfaces and protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, BLE, Wi-Fi,MQTT, or similar.
  • Experience with software version control and defect tracking tools such as Git, Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar.
  • Understanding of software lifecycle processes, software requirements, architecture, implementation, verification, and change control.
  • Familiaritywith static analysis, coding standards, and code review practices.

 

  Experience

  • Minimum3 years of experience in software engineering, preferably in medical or other highly regulated industries
  • Experiencein firmware development for embedded microcontrollers, sensors, actuators, communica-tion interfaces, and connected-device protocols.
  • Experienceworking in regulated industries, preferably medical devices.
  • Knowledgeof IEC 62304, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and software documentation expectations is an ad-vantage.
  • Understandingof risk management, traceability, verification evidence, and design history file docu-mentation.
  • Awarenessof secure software development and cybersecurity requirements for connected devices is an advantage.
  • Experiencedebugging embedded systems using JTAG/SWD debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyz-ers, protocol analyzers, and other lab equipment.

  • Mustbe able to read, understand and communicate in English
  • Applyprinciples of logical thinking to solve practical problems
  • Hands-on,pragmatic, and structured engineering mindset.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with electronics, systems, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, app/cloud, and external supplier teams.
  • Strong ownership mindset and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional regulated product devel-opment environment.

 

Environmental conditions, physical demand & local remarks

  • Exempt
  • Travelup to 10% of the time, including occasional international travel
  • Mustbe able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Indoors,average office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, or temperature changes
