Description:
Job Summary: The Quality Technician is responsible for identifying defects, documenting findings, supporting root-cause investigations, and collaborating with production teams to drive continuous improvement. The Quality Technician supports the organization's quality management system by performing inspections, tests, audits, and data analysis to ensure products meet established standards and customer expectations.

Essential Duties:

  • Act as first level of backup to Quality Inspector to help perform in-process, first article, and final inspections of components in metals, paint and trim as well as finished products in Assembly.
  • Work with Operations (Metals, Paint, Assembly and Trim) to create and update inspection sheets that ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Conduct and support process audits to ensure compliance with internal procedures, work instructions, and QMS requirements ISO 9001.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and verification of corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) to ensure sustained resolution of quality issues.
  • Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including inspection records, control plans, calibration records, nonconformance reports, and process verification forms.
  • Work with Technical Writer to review, revise, and write training procedures and work instructions to support standardization and process improvement.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits, ensuring audit readiness and supporting responses to findings.
  • Support Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions, including preparations of control plans, FMEAs, and inspection data.
  • Manage and track Return Material Authorizations (RMAs), including coordination of failure analysis and communication of results to customers and suppliers.
  • Support calibration of inspection tools and test equipment to maintain measurement accuracy and traceability.
  • Assist Inspector and Manager with reject and nonconformance management, including data analysis, trend reporting, and follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Conduct quality-related training for operators and production staff to reinforce quality standards and procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and process efficiency.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk and hear. Must use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand, bend, stoop and reach above shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 40 pounds on occasion. Some computer-based work may require periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Requirements:
  • High School diploma
  • 3 years' work experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on quality
  • 3 years' work experience reading blue prints and operational work instructions
  • Experience inspecting weldments, fabricated components and assemblies
  • Associate's degree in quality, manufacturing technology, or related field, preferred
