Job Title: Geospatial Solution Architect (ArcGIS Enterprise)

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Geospatial Solution Architect to lead the design and integration of enterprise-grade geospatial solutions using ArcGIS Enterprise. This role operates at the intersection of GIS and enterprise IT, driving scalable integration strategies that connect geospatial platforms with core business systems, APIs, and cloud services.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in ArcGIS architecture, enterprise integration, and transportation-focused GIS solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation & GIS Strategy
- Interpret federal/state transportation GIS mandates (HPMS, MIRE, ARNOLD) into technical solutions
- Define best practices for enterprise GIS governance, quality, and lifecycle management
Architecture & Design
- Design end-to-end geospatial solutions using ArcGIS Enterprise
- Develop architecture diagrams, integration frameworks, and technical roadmaps
- Build scalable GIS service patterns aligned with enterprise architecture
- Support GIS cloud migration, performance tuning, and optimization
Enterprise Integration
- Implement integration patterns (REST, SOAP, APIs, ETL/ELT, messaging)
- Design APIs, data pipelines, and middleware connecting GIS with enterprise systems
- Utilize tools such as ArcGIS REST API, Python, FME, and webhooks
- Integrate GIS with ERP, asset management, and transportation systems
Data Engineering & Automation
- Develop geospatial data models, geodatabases, and LRS datasets
- Build automated workflows using Python, ArcPy, and geoprocessing services
- Ensure data governance, quality, lineage, and metadata standards
Collaboration & Leadership
- Lead technical design sessions and stakeholder workshops
- Collaborate with architects, developers, planners, and engineers
- Provide technical direction across cross-functional teams
Innovation & Modernization
- Evaluate emerging GIS technologies and analytics (AI/ML, real-time data)
- Lead modernization initiatives including cloud and spatial data platforms
- Support enterprise GIS roadmap development
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, or related field
- 5+ years of transportation-focused GIS experience (DOT or similar environment)
- Strong experience with ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal, Server, Datastore)
- Expertise in enterprise integration (APIs, ETL/ELT, data pipelines)
- Proficiency in Python, ArcPy, SQL, and geoprocessing workflows
- Experience with spatial data modeling and geodatabase management (PostgreSQL, SQL Server)
- Hands-on experience integrating GIS with transportation or asset systems
- Knowledge of GIS data governance, security, and compliance
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum or ITIL methodologies
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- GISP Certification (URISA)
- Esri Certifications (Enterprise System Design, ArcGIS API Developer)
- Experience with transportation safety datasets and analytics platforms
- Experience in large-scale GIS modernization or cloud architecture initiatives
