Summary

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a SATCOM Systems Integration Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA. You will join a systems engineering team defining the next generation of space communication systems supporting US Space Force (USSF) satellite communications. You will support Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) activities in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment. You will interface and collaborate with SE&I team members, contractors, government civilians and members of the USSF. You will lead and support several working groups responsible for leading technical discussion, resolve and identify risk, requirement gaps, developing briefings, writing, and tracking action items, and authoring meeting minutes.

The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort provides leading edge Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) for the Space Force's Space Systems Command. We support the Space Force's acquisition of state-of-the-art Military Satellite Communications systems, providing global secure, survivable, and protected communications for our nation's warfighters. We seek technical individuals who will thrive in a highly collaborative work environment of small teams, using the most modern tools and methodologies to tackle the challenges of integrating complex space and ground communications systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development of requirements verification documents, test plans, test procedures, and evaluation criteria.
  • Assist in updating System Engineering documentation such as the System Integration and Test Plan (SITP), Systems Engineering Plan (SEP), and Systems Verification Plan (SVP).
  • Support the development of operational concepts, system requirements, and architecture products; help evaluate requirements flow down and propose verification methods.
  • Participate in establishing and maintaining Test and Evaluation data processes; assist with integrating Digital Engineering tools and environments.
  • Support Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) by preparing technical materials and tracking action items.
  • Review integration related contractor deliverables and collaborate with cross functional teams to refine integration and test approaches.
  • Prepare and deliver briefings summarizing analyses, technical recommendations, and integration strategies.
  • Support the identification of technical risks and mitigation strategies; document risks and help maintain risk databases.
  • Provide systems engineering support throughout the program lifecycle for both space and associated ground systems.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science, or a related technical field
  • 3-5 years of experience in systems engineering
  • Experience creating system specifications, validating requirements, and performing system-level analysis
  • Exposure to space systems and/or military satellite communications
  • Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Desired:
  • Master's degree in a technical discipline, i.e., engineering, physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science
  • Experience with MILSATCOM programs such as AEHF, EPS, WGS, PTS, or COMSATCOM
  • Experience working with military or DoD civilian partners
  • Familiarity with satellite communications, ground terminals, or DoD networks
  • INCOSE ASEP/CSEP/ESEP certification
  • MBSE certification (OCSMP)
  • Agile development experience

Compensation: The pay range for this position in California is $121,000/year to $151,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
