Senior Database Engineer (PostgreSQL)

Interview Process:In-person interview at the client office in Plano, TX.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, optimize, and maintain PostgreSQL database systems.

• Perform query tuning, indexing, replication, backup, and recovery.

• Monitor database performance and resolve performance bottlenecks.

• Collaborate with application developers on database design and data modeling.

• Support PostgreSQL upgrades, migrations, and database security.

• Implement monitoring and observability using Prometheus and Grafana.

• Participate in on-call support, incident management, and process improvement initiatives.

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of overall IT experience.

• 3+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL database engineering experience.

• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL performance tuning, partitioning, replication, backup, and recovery.

• Experience with pgBackRest, Barman, pg_stat_statements, pgBadger, and pgBouncer.

• Experience with Liquibase or AtlasGo.

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (K8s), Docker, Terraform, and Ansible.

• Familiarity with Git/GitHub and CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience with PostgreSQL Operators such as CloudNativePG or EDB Postgres is preferred.

• Experience with Helm Charts, StatefulSets, and Red Hat OpenShift is a plus.

• Strong understanding of relational databases, NoSQL databases, and data modeling.

• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
