ABOUT THE JOB: We are seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team, focusing on the design and development of advanced detection systems utilizing LIDAR technology. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in opto-mechanical design, with a focus on enhancing detection capabilities for various applications.
WHAT YOU'LL DO- Own hardware from concept generation to real-world use.
- Develop cutting-edge infrared sensors specifically for detection applications.
- Utilize first principles physics as a basis for all decisions.
- Lead system integration activities into LIDAR and detectionplatformsincluding various vehicles.
- Build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful projects into production.
- Support critical hardware demonstrations with customers as needed.
- Contribute to the development of new optical systems by assisting in design and implementation efforts.
- Define top-level system architecture trades to develop optimal system designs.
- Execute in-depth and rigorous opto-mechanical designs.
- Travel to test sites as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's in mechanical engineering (BSME), or MS with 8 plus years of experience in design, hardware, or integrated product development and testing, and excellent leadership/communicationExperience in an immersive interdisciplinary technical project.
- Experience in design, hardware, or integrated product development and testing
- Proficiency in CAD (any platform) with the ability to create high-quality engineering drawings that meet industry standards.
- Understanding of thermal and structural analysis.
- Demonstrated hands-on fabrication skills.
- Ability to integrate electronic components into mechanical designs (motors, controllers, sensors, etc.).
- Experience with motion control, bearing, motor, and material selections
- Experience with machining, sheet metal, injection molding, and 3D printing.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Experience with complex optical system design, analysis, testing, and implementation.

US Salary Range
$126,000-$167,000 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
