1. Role Summary
The Onshore Technical Lead will be responsible for leading integration initiatives using IBM Integration technologies including IBM DataPower Gateway, IBM Integration Bus (IIB/ACE), and IBM ESB components. This role involves technical leadership, architecture guidance, hands‑on development, onshore-offshore coordination, and partnership with business/IT stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and high‑performance integration solutions.
2. Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership (Must Have)
- Lead end‑to‑end integration design and technical delivery using IBM DataPower and IBM IIB/ACE.
- Define integration patterns, reusable frameworks, best practices, and coding standards.
- Perform architecture reviews, impact analysis, and solution feasibility assessments.
- Guide offshore developers with technical direction, workload planning, and issue resolution.
Solution Design & Development (Good to Have)
- Design and implement services including REST/SOAP APIs, message flows, and transformations (XML, JSON, SOAP, MQ).
- Develop DataPower artifacts: Multi‑Protocol Gateways (MPGW), Web Services Proxy (WSP), REST services, security configurations.
- Build IIB/ACE message flows using ESQL, Java, Compute Nodes, MQ nodes, and Mapping nodes.
- Experience with API security including OAuth2, JWT, TLS Mutual Auth, WS‑Security, AAA policies.
Integration Delivery (Must Have)
- Manage requirements grooming, effort estimation, solution design, and technical documentation.
- Work closely with architects, DBAs, network/security teams, product owners, and QA.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, performance guidelines, and security standards.
- Conduct code reviews, solution walkthroughs, and troubleshooting sessions.
Support & Operations (Must Have)
- Provide L3 production support, root cause analysis, and performance tuning.
- Manage deployment pipelines and work with DevOps teams for CI/CD automation.
- Handle DataPower firmware upgrades, domain migrations, promotion between environments.
Stakeholder & Team Management (Must Have)
- Act as the main onshore point of contact for integration projects.
- Coordinate work across onshore/offshore teams ensuring delivery quality.
- Communicate project risks, dependencies, and technical decisions to leadership.
- Mentor junior developers and support technical upskilling initiatives.
3. Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in:
- IBM DataPower XI52/XG45/IDG (MPGW, WSP, XMLFW, AAA, Crypto, Certificates)
- IBM Integration Bus (IIB) / App Connect Enterprise (ACE)
(Message flows, ESQL, Compute nodes, MQ, REST APIs, SOAP services) - IBM MQ concepts, configuration, and messaging patterns.
- IBM ESB concepts, mediation flows, service orchestration.
- Must have experience in Azure Complex event processing and IBM ODM
- API security: OAuth2, JWT, SSL/TLS, Mutual Authentication.
- Experience with message formats: XML, JSON, XSD, WSDL, SWAGGER/OpenAPI.
- CI/CD tools: Git, Jenkins/Azure DevOps/Bamboo, UrbanCode Deploy (optional).
- Cloud platforms preferred: AWS / Azure / IBM Cloud.
Soft Skills (Must Have)
- Excellent communication and client‑facing skills.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical capabilities.
- Ability to lead distributed teams and manage workloads.
- Solid documentation, presentation, and technical storytelling skills.
4. Qualifications (Must Have)
- 8+ years of experience in IBM integration technologies.
- 3+ years in a Technical Lead or Onshore Lead position.
- IBM Certified Solution Developer – DataPower / ACE certifications (preferred).
- Experience in Agile/Scrum delivery model.
