Project Manager – Enterprise Data Governance Platform (Alation)

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the operational management, governance, and continuous evolution of the Alation Data Governance Platform. This individual will own the platform from a business and service delivery perspective, acting as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, platform support teams and product teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the end-to-end delivery, operational management, and governance of the Alation platform, ensuring platform stability, service availability, performance, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the platform, collaborating with business stakeholders, platform support teams, technical teams, vendors, and product teams to align platform capabilities with business objectives.
  • Define and manage the platform roadmap, enhancement backlog, priorities, risks, dependencies, and release plans across multiple business functions.
  • Drive Agile delivery by facilitating planning sessions, backlog refinement, prioritization, sprint reviews, and release planning while ensuring alignment with business priorities.
  • Manage platform operations, including Incident, Service Request, Change, Problem, and Release Management, ensuring timely resolution and compliance with established service-level agreements.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement by gathering business requirements, translating them into actionable work items, and ensuring successful execution through cross-functional teams.
  • Oversee platform onboarding and adoption, including new data source integrations, governance workflows, metadata onboarding, user enablement, training coordination, and Go-Live/Hypercare activities.
  • Partner with Data Governance, Data Stewardship, and Business teams to drive Business Glossary management, metadata governance, data lineage adoption, policy implementation, and governance best practices.
  • Coordinate with the Alation product team, implementation partners, and platform administrators to manage platform upgrades, feature releases, product issues, connector enablement, and platform optimization initiatives.
  • Establish and monitor platform KPIs, operational metrics, adoption metrics, service health, and governance compliance while providing executive-level dashboards and governance reporting.
  • Lead governance forums, steering committee meetings, operational reviews, and stakeholder communications to ensure transparency and effective decision-making.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance platform capabilities, operational processes, governance maturity, user adoption, and overall service quality.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 8–12 years of experience in Enterprise Application Management, Platform Management, Technical Program Management, IT Service Delivery, or Product Operations.
  • Proven experience managing enterprise business-critical applications or platforms.
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and project governance.
  • Experience managing cross-functional stakeholders across business and technology organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of IT Service Management processes, including Incident, Problem, Change, Release, and Request Management.
  • Experience managing platform roadmaps, enhancements, and operational support.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
